Kuchiyose no Jutsu - Summonings A powerful jutsu, Ninpo Kuchiyose allows a ninja to summon animals, objects and the dead to fight on their behalf. The ninja normally signs a blood contract with the animal species, which allows them to summon different size and skill levels of creature. The ability to summon more advanced animals largely depends upon the amount of chakra the ninja can muster to perform the jutsu. By signing this contract, the creatures themselves can also reverse summon the contract signer to their location. To summon the creature the ninja will wipe blood on the hand, perform the necessary handseals and then touch their hand to the ground or another object. Though it appears that as long as significant pressure is placed against the blood in some form, the summon will be complete. There can be variations to the summoning steps, some ninja like Temari will wipe blood on her fan, then by swinging the fan the animal is summoned. Other ninja like Orochimaru wipe the blood across a snake tattoo on their arm first, then touch the ground. Animal Summonings Anko's Giant Snake (Unnamed) Location: Hidden Leaf Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Mitarashi Anko Anko summoned this giant snake to destroy a cave wall and provide shelter by traveling in its mouth. It is assumed Anko signed the same summoning contract as Orochimaru to gain the ability to summon snakes like her former sensei. Danzou's Giant Tapir Baku (Unnamed) Location: Hidden Leaf Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Shimura Danzou Danzou held a summoning contract with a giant tapir-like chimera creature called a baku, which is said to devour dreams. This beast was capable of sucking in large sections of the area before it. Danzou could also work in conjunction with the beast to increase the power of his own Fuuton. The beast was vulnerable to Katon blasts which could be fired into its vacuum attack. Demolisher Toad Location: Hidden Leaf Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Jiraiya This gigantic toad is one of the summons of Jiraiya. Elder Sage Toad Location: Hidden Leaf Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Jiraiya This giant toad was the leader of the toads approximately 30 years previously. He held the ability to forsee the future and gave Jiraiya one of his prophecies. Due to his old age, it is unknown if he is still alive. Gamabunta Location: Hidden Leaf Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Jiraiya, Fourth Hokage, Uzumaki Naruto This giant toad is the boss of all the summoned toads. He was the personal summon of the Fourth Hokage and helped him defeat the Kyuubi 12 years previously. Gamaken Location: Hidden Leaf Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Jiraiya This giant toad is one of Jiraiya's battle companions. Gamaken wields a large forked weapon and shield. Though he considers himself slow of mind, his size and power allows him to stand toe to toe with many large summons. Gamakichi Location: Hidden Leaf Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Uzumaki Naruto, Jiraiya See also: Gamabunta This toad is the personal summon of Naruto and Jiraiya. Gamatatsu Location: Hidden Leaf Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Uzumaki Naruto See also: Gamabunta This toad is the younger brother of Gamakichi. Gennou's Giant Eagle Location: Heat Haze Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Gennou This giant eagle is the personal summon of Heat Haze ninja Gennou. Since Heat Haze was destroyed in the past and Gennou was its last ninja, it is unknown if anyone else will be able to summon the bird. Hanzou's Salamander Location: Hidden Rain Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Hanzou This giant salamander is the summon of Hanzou. With Hanzou's death, it is unknown if anyone else will be able to summon the salamander. Kamatari Location: Hidden Sand Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Temari This animal is the personal summon of the Sand ninja Temari. To summon the creature, Temari wipes blood on her fan and then does her Kirkirimai (Whirl) technique. After she swings her fan the itachi (weasel) is summoned with a huge scythe as well as several other small kama (sickles). The result is a huge swath of destruction. Other than Naruto, Temari is the only Genin so far who has been shown to possess the needed chakra to summon a creature. Katsuyu Location: Hidden Leaf Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Tsunade This slug is the personal summon of Tsunade and she is the head of all slugs. Key Toad Location: Hidden Leaf Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Jiraiya This toad watches over the scroll which acts as the "key" to the Hakke Fuuin on Naruto's stomach. Jiraiya eventually left the scroll to Naruto. Kidoumaru's Giant Spider Location: Hidden Sound Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Kidoumaru This giant spider is the personal summon of the Sound ninja Kidoumaru. Kubisaki Kouza's Giant Lizard Location: Neck Country Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Kubisaki Kouza This giant lizard was the personal summon of Neck Country leader Kubisaki Kouza. Kouza's country was besieged and his citizens wiped out by an enemy army. He retreated to his castle and summoned this gigantic lizard to linger after his death. The lizard took on the form of his castle and ate any who came inside. After many years Kouza's spirit returned to guide Naruto, Kiba and Hinata to his summoning contract to destroy it, which would finally let the animal return from whence it came. Manda Location: Hidden Sound Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Orochimaru, Uchiha Sasuke This snake is the personal summon of Orochimaru and he is the head of all snakes. Mizukage's Giant Clam Location: Hidden Mist Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Nidaime Mizukage This giant clam is the personal summon of Nidaime Mizukage. Monkey King Enma Location: Hidden Leaf Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Third Hokage This monkey is the personal summon of the Third Hokage and he is the head of all monkeys. Motoi's Messenger Owl (Unnamed) Location: Hidden Cloud Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Motoi Motoi uses this messenger owl to deliver mission updates back to Kumo. Nin-Dogs Location: Hidden Leaf Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Hatake Kakashi See also: Pakkun These dogs serve as the personal summon of Hatake Kakashi. He can summon the whole pack or one individual dog when desired. Nin-Kame Location: Hidden Leaf Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Might Guy See also: Rock Lee This tortise is the personal summon of Might Guy. Like Guy, it stresses responsibility and hard work to Rock Lee and seeks to correct Lee when the young Genin makes mistakes. Orochimaru's Snake Location: Hidden Sound Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Orochimaru Orochimaru summoned this giant snake when he attacked Team 7 in the Forest of Death. To summon the snake Orochimaru wiped a line of blood across the tattoo on his left arm. Pain's Giant Crustacean Location: Hidden Rain Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Pain Pain has the ability to summon many creatures. One such creature is this giant crustacean, which has the ability to expel a large amount of water. Pain's Giant Chameleon Location: Hidden Rain Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Pain Pain has the ability to summon many creatures. One such creature is this giant chameleon-chimera, which has the ability to turn invisible. The chimera itself has the body of a chameleon, wings, horns and a snake tail. Pain's Giant Dog Location: Hidden Rain Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Pain Pain has the ability to summon many creatures. One such creature is this giant dog, which has the ability to split into more dogs each time it is struck. These dogs can then merge and split apart at will. Pain's Giant Bird Location: Hidden Rain Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Pain Pain has the ability to summon many creatures. One such creature is this giant bird, which has the ability to fly through the air and ram its target. Pain's Giant Ram Location: Hidden Rain Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Pain Pain has the ability to summon many creatures. One such creature is this giant centipede, which can tear through large structures. Pain's Giant Rhino Location: Hidden Rain Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Pain Pain has the ability to summon many creatures. One such creature is this giant rhino, which can ram and pulverize everything in its path. Pakkun Location: Hidden Leaf Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Hatake Kakashi See also: Nin-Dogs This Nin-Dog is the summon of Hatake Kakashi. He can be summoned with his pack brothers or by himself. Ruiga's Piranhas Location: Wandering Ninja Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Ruiga These piranhas are the personal summon of the wandering ninja Ruiga. Using his ability to draw water out of the ground, Ruiga will create a medium in which the piranhas can swim and pursue his targets. Ruiga's Shark Location: Wandering Ninja Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Ruiga This shark is the personal summon of the wandering ninja Ruiga. Sasuke's Giant Hawk Location: - Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Uchiha Sasuke After leaving Orochimaru's death, Sasuke dropped his ties to snakes and formed a summoning contract with a giant hawk. Suzumebachi's Giant Hornet Location: Hidden Rock Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Kamizuru Suzumebachi This giant hornet is the personal summon of the Rock ninja Kamizuru Suzumebachi. Three-Headed Snake Location: Hidden Sound/Sand Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Unnamed Sand Ninja See also: Orochimaru This three headed snake was summoned by Hidden Sand ninja. Toad (Unnamed) Location: Hidden Leaf Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Jiraiya This toad is a personal summon of Jiraiya. He appears to be Jiraiya's common toad to summon when hanging out. Giant Toad (Unnamed) Location: Hidden Leaf Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Jiraiya This toad is a personal summon of Jiraiya. So far he has not fought in battle with Jiraiya, he has only been called on when Jiraiya visited Naruto in the hospital. Toad Sennin Location: Hidden Leaf Classification: Animal Summon Character Affiliation: Jiraiya These two toad sennin, Shima and Fukasaku, acted as advisors to the elder toad sage. They had the ability to combine with Jiraiya to enter his "Sennin" mode. This mode changed Jiraiya's form and allowed him to access natural energy. This form also allowed him to utilize Fukasaku and Shima's jutsu. Person Summonings Fourth Hokage Location: Hidden Leaf Classification: Human Summon Character Affiliation: Team Namikaze The Fourth Hokage was well known for his ability to transport himself across distances using his shiki (rites). This gave rise to his nick name "Konoha's Yellow Flash." Upon placing his rite upon an object he could summon his body to that location. This unique ability allowed him to go to a location without being called upon by someone else. He used this ability to also place his rite on a kunai he gave as a gift to Kakashi. When the kunai was thrown, he would recognize he was needed and instantly travel to that location. Umino Iruka (Chuunin Examiners) Location: Hidden Leaf Classification: Human Summon Character Affiliation: Team 7 Genin who managed to collect both the Heaven and Earth scrolls in the Chuunin Exam were to open them after making it to the central tower. A Chuunin Examiner was then be summoned to congratulate the Genin. However, if the Genin opened the scrolls before reaching the tower, they would be knocked unconscious and eliminated from the exam. Iruka went on to explain how the "Heaven" scroll represented the mind, and the "Earth" the body. By knowing ones strengths and weaknesses they can train and improve. These qualities help one grow stronger and wiser and thus worthy of becoming a Chuunin. Oboro Location: Hidden Rain Classification: Human Summon Character Affiliation: Team Oboro Team Oboro used a summoning scroll to transport its team members across large distances. After forming the needed hand seals, the team member will slap their palm against the "person" kanji on the scroll to summon the teammate to their location. Rikudou Bodies Location: Hidden Rain Classification: Human Summon Character Affiliation: Pain Pain's Rinnegan allows him to make use of the Rikudou (Six Realms). Thus his Animal Realm body can use animal Kushiyose. By summoning his other bodies, he can use the Rinnegan to utilize their sensory information and abilities in battle. First Hokage Location: Hidden Sound Classification: Dead Summon Character Affiliation: Orochimaru The forbidden jutsu Edo Tensei was used by Orochimaru to bring back the soul of the First Hokage into a sacrificed body. In this form Orochimaru was able to command the First Hokage to do his bidding. Second Hokage Location: Hidden Sound Classification: Dead Summon Character Affiliation: Orochimaru The forbidden jutsu Edo Tensei was used by Orochimaru to bring back the soul of the Second Hokage into a sacrificed body. Fourth Hokage Location: Hidden Sound Classification: Dead Summon Character Affiliation: Orochimaru The forbidden jutsu Edo Tensei was used by Orochimaru in an apparent attempt to bring back the soul of the Fourth Hokage into a sacrificed body. This failed due to fact the Fourth's soul was trapped within the Shinigami after he sealed away a portion of the Kyuubi chakra using Shiki Fuujin. Experimental Bodies Location: Hidden Sound Classification: Dead Summon Character Affiliation: Yakushi Kabuto To assist in his experiments, Kabuto carries a scroll that contains male and female corpses. These bodies are arranged by age and sex. With Kabuto's skills in altering the appearances of corpses, he can use these bodies as diversionary tactics. Uzumaki Naruto Kage Bunshin Location: Hidden Leaf Classification: Human Summon Character Affiliation: Uzumaki Naruto To help combat the limitation Naruto faced in being unable to combine with the toads in Sennin Mode, Naruto used Kage Bunshin's ability to transfer Senjutsu chakra back to the original. By leaving behind clones at Myouboku, Naruto could fight while they continued to gather in natural energy. He could then summon the clone using reverse summoning, then cancel the clone to receive its Senjutsu chakra. Object Summonings Gedou Mazou Location: Hidden Rain Classification: Object Summon Character Affiliation: Nagato Nagato can summon this large statue which can directly connect to his body. Once connected, it can extend a spectral dragon which can remove the souls of anyone it passes through. This statue may be the same or related to the bound King of Hell statue Akatsuki uses. Giant Mace Location: Hidden Leaf Classification: Object Summon Character Affiliation: Hagane Kotetsu To save space and allow freedom of movement, Kotetsu carries a giant mace in a summoning scroll. Giant Shuriken Location: Hidden Leaf Classification: Object Summon Character Affiliation: Uzumaki Naruto To save space and allow freedom of movement, Naruto carries a giant shuriken in a summoning scroll rather than on his back. King of Hell Statue Location: Roaming Classification: Object Summon Character Affiliation: Pain The Akatsuki organization uses the King of Hell statue to hold the bijuu it withdraws from captured Jinchuuriki. Pain can summon this statue wherever the group currently meets. Each time a bijuu is sealed within the statue, one of its nine eyes opens. Mechanical Bird Location: Hidden Sand Classification: Object Summon Character Affiliation: Chiyo This mechanical bird belonged to elder Sand kunoichi Chiyo. After winding it up, Chiyo can have the bird transport data back to Hidden Sand. Sai's Secret Orders Location: Hidden Leaf Classification: Object Summon Character Affiliation: Sai Sai was given secret orders by ANBU Root leader Danzou. The orders were located in a book sealed within two scrolls. To summon the book, Sai had to unfurl the scrolls and lay their centers across each other. He would then place his palms on the "Hands" area of one scroll. This would then grant permission to the other scroll's "Secret" marker to summon the book itself. Shikokumujin Canister Location: Hidden Sound Classification: Object Summon Character Affiliation: Sakon See also: Sasuke This canister is used as a vessel to contain the dark matter generated by the Shikokumujin technique. When the matter covers one in the canister who has taken the Seishingan drug, the individual can forcibily adjust to their stage two cursed seal infection. Shuriken Location: Hidden Sound Classification: Object Summon Character Affiliation: Uchiha Sasuke In preparation for his battle with his brother Itachi, Sasuke affixed a seal marked Ken (Blade) to each of his wrists. These seals allowed him to summon shuriken of different sizes, including normal shuriken and giant size Fuuma shuriken. TenTen's Tobidougu (Projectile Weapons) Location: Hidden Leaf Classification: Object Summon Character Affiliation: TenTen After using her Soushouryuu technique, TenTen can summon projectile weapons from the scrolls. These weapons are connected to her fingers with really fine wire, which allows her to pull back the weapons and send them at her opponent multiple times. Rashoumon Location: Hidden Sound Classification: Object Summon Character Affiliation: Sakon and Ukon, Orochimaru The sealed gate Rashoumon can serve as a barrier when needed by Orochimaru. The Sound-Nin brothers Sakon and Ukon must both initiate the summoning at the same time to bring forth the gate. Orochimaru himself can summon three of these gates by drawing blood on both his right and left thumbs. Iwagama Location: Hidden Leaf Classification: Object Summon Character Affiliation: Jiraiya This unique summon transforms the surrounding area into the esophagus of a giant fire-breathing toad from Myoboku Mountain Rock Inn. Puppet Summonings Hyakki no Souen Location: Akatsuki Classification: Object Summon Character Affiliation: Sasori These hundred puppets are said to be Sasori's last and ultimate puppets, his "Red Secret Technique". Made using his hitokugutsu technique, the puppets were once human who fell in battle to Sasori. Sasori would take their forms and turn them into puppets, allowing him to use their skills and abilities as their own. Jikki Chikamatsu no Shuu Location: Hidden Sand Classification: Object Summon Character Affiliation: Chiyo These puppets were made by the first Kugutsu no Jutsu user, Chikamatsu Monzaemon. The puppets were passed on to the hands of Hidden Sand user Chiyo. She uses the puppets as her ultimate technique, her "White Secret Technique". Kankurou's Puppets Location: Hidden Sand Classification: Object Summon Character Affiliation: Kankurou After adding more puppets to his arsenal, Kankurou began to carry them in scrolls to allow him better freedom of movement until the time they are needed. Sandaime Kazekage Location: Akatsuki Classification: Object Summon Character Affiliation: Sasori Sasori defeated the Sandaime Kazekage in battle and used his hitokugutsu jutsu to turn him into a puppet. This puppet retained all of the Kazekage's abilities, even in death. Sasori's Parents Location: Hidden Sand Classification: Object Summon Character Affiliation: Chiyo These puppets were made by Sasori in the image of his dead parents. After he fled his village, they remained behind to be used by Chiyo. Spirit Summonings Tayuya's Doki (Angry Spirits) Location: Hidden Sound Classification: Demon Summon Character Affiliation: Tayuya A blind demon spirit, this creature moves according to the musical commands of Tayuya. The Doki is more or less a special form of Tayuya's chakra. Umibouzu Location: Sea Country Classification: Animal/Element Summon Character Affiliation: Amachi Amachi summoned this Umibouzu (sea monster) to help him terrorize the Sea Country. Something more than sea water and something less than a sentient being, the Umibouzu is a moving water technique that obeys Amachi's command.
